Problem or Opportunity
Cancer is the second cause of death worldwide (2018- 18mln cases; 9.6mln deaths in -2012 14.1 and 8.2mln - WHO, IARC). Diagnosis is based on analysis of radiology and pathology images. The process is unchanged for decades. The diagnosticians work with the microscope and submit the results (documents, samples) by mail. International standards are not used. Often patients wait 2 weeks for a diagnosis. Without digitizing histopathology samples, the patient has no access to the results of his tests. The problem is digitization, proper standardized preparation, and collection of data.
Solution (product or service)
Cancer Center Platform is a cloud-based platform where users can collect, share, analyze data for more effective cancer diagnosis. Users will get a faster 2nd opinion from an expert (video chat), remote diagnosis supported by available algorithms, find similar cases, share experiences and collaborate with other oncologists. It is a knowledge base, data warehouse and analytical services for universities and medical centers. The platform will enable digitization, image segmentation, generation of statistical descriptions of images, cell counting, classification of malignancy grade, tumor type.
Business model
We plan to sell mainly to the business sector, but some of the functionality related to issuing a second medical opinion will also be available to oncology patients. The main customer, however, will be the business customer. The most important customer from the point of view of revenue is the medical unit - clinic, pathology facility, hospital, etc. Other important customers are specialist physicians, who can purchase individual product functionalities. We are planning subscription-based sales.
